This variety of lettuce is a Crisphead, Heirloom iceberg-type. Plants produce dense, firm, medium-large heads just like the ones you buy at the grocery store as the main ingredient to your salad-fixings. This type is very heat-sensitive and was originally adapted for growth in the northern U.S. It will perform well in southern climates when grown in the cooler months of the season. For Fall planting we suggest starting indoors in a Jiffy Seed Starting Kit late Summer. Then transplant to garden when outside temps are 60° - 65°.
