Long Island Improved Brussel Sprouts are the most common and widely adapted for the home garden. Compact plants on stalks 20 in. to 24 in. tall that bear 50 to 100, dark-green, 1 in. to 1 in. sprouts. That's a lot of tasty sprouts on the short self supporting stems. An heirloom variety introduced in 1890's. A good producer again when planted in summer for fall harvest until frost.
