Organic Lettuce Prizehead Vegetable Seeds
Ferry-Morse. $6.49. Out of stock.
Despite the name, Prizehead lettuce is non-heading, it is a leaf or loose-headed lettuce variety. The leaves are upright, deeply curled, broad and light green tinged with red. This variety will bolt in heat so be certain to plant early in the season and wait again until Fall arrives. 'Prizehead' is an old variety and has been a popular since the late 19th Century. It was first offered by Ferry Morse in 1881, thus a heirloom variety.
